The ‘Astrofegia’ restaurant, which means ‘Star-light’, is one of the oldest in the Old Village of Alonissos. It has been functioning since 1980, and is celebrating its thirtieth year in business. It is housed in an old stable dating from the early 1900’s.
The owner of Astrofegia, Yanis Toundas, an ex-player for the football club Panathinaikos, has maintained many of the original features of the building, and runs the restaurant with his wife Emma Maryan Green ( whom he met while she was completing her Cambridge degree ).

Astrofegia hopes to ring the changes on the theme of Mediterranean cuisine, always owing something to local produce and flavours.
You will find an interesting range of salads and dips, a selection of main courses ranging from vegetarian moussaka to roast lamb with rosemary, including, of course, grilled fish and pasta dishes, as well as truly oriental-sounding pastries and sweets.
As you enjoy your meal, you can listen to a wonderful selection of ethnic music.
To accompany your meal, ‘Astrofegia Restaurant’ offers a unique selection of wines, unavalaible anywhere else.

The wines are branded with the restaurant’s name, and they are made from selected varieties of Peloponnesian grapes. They are then matured in a traditional way in oak barrels.
These wines have been carefully chosen by the owner of Astrofegia, Yanis Toundas, and bottled in Attica by Mr. Zafirakis, wine-maker. As from 2009, these wines will also be available in carafes. |
